visualize this!
interestingly the classic treatment of this central issue by Michael Polanyi explores perceptional theory (in the spirit of e.g. Husserl, but by not referring to it?) - e.g. pondering perception of form within noise, item / background etc.
.. surely this reader is very sceptic about if that unaccountable is indeed unaccountable, but has to at least read the whole paper before judging that more :o
also, google:"polanyi visualization" lead to:
- Visualization of the Volterra Defects and of the Space around a Black Hole
- 'cause they quote later work by Polanyi, another classic it seems: "After Polanyi (1968)... Emergence/supervenience is the appearance of properties or behaviours of a set of components which may in principle be unpredictable by reference only to the rules governing their individual interactions, but which nevertheless arise through these same rules." .. but interestingly, this earlier and perhaps even more fundamental treatment deals with forms too
